LEAPlets: The BUSS® in Early Years groupwork programme
LEAPlets is an 11-week, hands-on BUSS® (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems) group programme for children aged 2–6 years and their parents or carers. Through guided play, movement, and connection-based activities, families learn how early experiences shape a child’s development – and discover practical ways to strengthen their child’s foundation systems for regulation, attention, and attachment.
Led by qualified BUSS® practitioners, LEAPlets offers a safe, nurturing space where parents can understand their child’s sensory needs, build stronger relationships, and see real progress over time.
What is LEAPlets?
LEAPlets is an 11-week, hands-on group programme for children aged 2–6 years and their parents or carers.
Part of the BUSS® (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems) approach, it helps rebuild the body-based foundations that support children’s attention, regulation, and relationships — areas often affected by early trauma or disrupted attachment.
Guided by a qualified BUSS® practitioner and support team, families take part in playful, movement-based activities that strengthen sensory and attachment systems. Each child’s needs are supported within the group, helping parents gain practical tools and confidence to nurture their child’s growth.

Further detail about LEAPlets
The venue
Our LEAPlets groups are held in safe, welcoming spaces that support play, movement, and connection.
This group takes place at Balance & Beam, Festival Way, Stoke-on-Trent (ST1 5PU) – a purpose-built gymnastics venue ideal for the movement-based activities at the heart of the BUSS® approach.
The space allows children to move freely and explore while parents and carers join in alongside them, guided by practitioners in a calm and supportive environment.
Free on-site parking is available, and all necessary insurances and safety measures are in place to ensure families feel comfortable and secure throughout the programme.
How the sessions work
LEAPlets runs over 11 weeks in small, supportive groups of 5–8 families.
- The first session is for parents and carers only, introducing the BUSS® approach and exploring each child’s foundation systems.
- The following 10 sessions bring parents and children together for hands-on, play-based activities that strengthen movement, coordination, and connection.
- A final one-to-one review session helps each family reflect on progress and plan next steps.
Sessions are active and engaging, run in safe, child-friendly spaces with guidance from a qualified BUSS® practitioner and trained support staff.
Outcome measurement tools
Goal Based Outcome measures will be undertaken pre and post intervention. Three standard intervention goals will be rated.
