Group interventions and group therapy

We deliver a variety of group interventions here at Gateway Psychology, designed to help support children and young people, as well as their parents and carers. In addition to the group interventions we already provide, we are open to working with commissioners to develop additional group services as required.

This four-session intervention brings a small group* of parents together in-person with an experienced and qualified Theraplay® Practitioner accredited by Theraplay® UK. The structured intervention focuses on improving and deepening the relationships between parents and their child/children.

Parenting with Theraplay is a cost-effective way of providing a parent focused Theraplay® Intervention and has the added benefit of generating self
sustaining parent support. It is also ideal as a preparation for those families who may move onto engagement with a formal Theraplay ® Intervention with their children. It is the only parent group intervention to be developed, overseen and accredited by Theraplay® UK.

*(minimum group size of 6; maximum group size of 12)

LEAPlets, the BUSS® in Early Years group, is an 11 week, manualised groupwork programme designed to nurture and support the development of attachment relationships and build children’s foundation sensorimotor systems.

The group is for children aged between 2 and 6 years of age and their parents or carers. There is differentiation within the group to ensure that the individual needs of children and families are catered for. It’s a very ‘hands on’ group, working with parents to understand their child’s foundation sensorimotor systems and how these have been impacted by developmental trauma. The group offers practical support and strategies to build their foundation sensorimotor system.
