Understanding Dissociation for Professionals

Loading Events

This is a one day course for professionals to explore dissociation and how it presents in children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma and attachment difficulties.

Dissociation is a disruption or discontinuity in the normal integration of consciousness, memory, identity or emotions and is used when an experience is perceived to be too distressing, painful, traumatising, life-threatening or even simply over-stimulating. The training will explore how to recognise dissociation, symptoms and screening and give an overview of appropriate intervention. In particular, this course aims to explore this topic in the context of developmental trauma and attachment.
