As a profession, Clinical Psychology holds supervision in high regard. There is recognition that the emotional impact of the work, and the frequent need to assess risk and make far-reaching clinical decisions are best supported from an objective stance; as such, regular clinical supervision is a requirement for best practice for Clinical Psychologists. Gateway Psychology is able to provide clinical psychology supervision to other Clinical Psychologists in a professional and confidential manner. Supervision sessions are contracted between Gateway and the individual clinician, but are usually held on a monthly or six-weekly basis.

In addition, supervision is available to other multi-disciplinary professionals working with children and young people. In general, working with children and young people is not a job for the faint-hearted. Our clinicians understand this and have experience of the stressors and dilemmas associated with being a professional working with children with attachment and other complex difficulties. We can offer support to increase the emotional wellbeing and enhance the practice of practitioners engaged in this type of work, including social workers, residential workers, support workers and education staff. This can take the form of individual or group supervision or reflective practice groups.
