Young People in Transition

Young people aged 16 to 19 years face many changes and choices in life and often experience difficulties relating to identity, independence and relationships. Transition difficulties relevant to older young people may include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Fears and phobias
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Personality problems
  • Eating difficulties
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self-harm
  • Sexually harmful behaviour
  • Trauma
  • Grief and loss
  • Adjustment to significant changes

Despite the importance of their difficulties, these young people may find themselves in a ‘gap’ between child and adult services. Gateway Psychology is able to provide intervention using a variety of clinicians that are skilled in the developmental needs of this age group. We can provide them with a seamless service as they progress into adulthood.
